This cross-border project entitled ‘The Adriatic Olive Grove: Risk Prevention, Sustainability, Learning’ is co-funded by the European Union and the Greek state. It is part of the IPA Adriatic CBC Programme (http://www.adriaticipacbc.org/). Partners are the Ionian University from Greece (Lead Partner), the Agricultural University of Tirana from Albania and the Prefecture of Rimini from Italy. The project aims to collect, work on, analyze, make available and promote all types of information (agricultural, technical, financial, legal, nutritional, historical, archival, cultural, other) on the Adriatic olive grove and olive products, as well as their potential, problems and solutions.
The project started in spring 2011 and is expected to end in early 2014. The first two years (2011 and 2012) were research oriented. Works in the last year focus on promotion and dissemination of results especially in the local communities. Towards this direction, we have programmed a number of events, such as workshops, seminars, an international congress, student competitions, painting exhibition, online free-access courses.
